What does Fairtrade actually mean?

Fairtrade is the current term for an honest and fair way of doing business. Fair trade has become a true statement. Organisations who decide to join the Fairtrade community get a fair price for their products as far as they live up to certain environmental demands and don't meddle with child labour.
In Belgium among others IWT (Agency for Innovation by Science and technology), Metro (the free newspaper) and ModeMakers support a new kind of Fairtrade.

During this worldwide crisis, Fairtrade isn't an easy philosophy to pick. Nevertheless New Fairtrade minded Belgian/Flemish companies decide to sponsor a small, local organisation as Lombardia. Thanks to their "new" Fairtrade philosophy Lombardia gets the opportunity to present its innovative GingerLove at the world exhibition in Shanghai.
The Fairtrade family-ran health food store is the first independent business ever which has created, developed and commercialised its own product since the first world exhibition in London in 1854. The "new" Fairtrade product GingerLove originates from the creative brain of Alain Indria and this promising product might become a worldwide Fairtrade success.

In the 21st century Fairtrade is an important item. Each self-respecting organisation deals with members of the new Fairtrade system. Thanks to the "new" Fairtrade way of thinking of IWT, Metro and ModeMakers, a new challenging era is to come for Lombardia.
